Captured German Hut
New Zealand soldiers relaxing outside a captured German hut. This candid photograph from the Royal New Zealand Returned and Services' Association collection shows a rare moment of respite -- soldiers sitting casually among salvaged materials, their expressions a mix of exhaustion and camaraderie. A deeply human image from a conflict that too often reduced men to statistics.
